Ok. I'll admit it. This post was inspired by all these clever crafty bloggers I follow. You know who you are! The pool of talent out here in the www. (to quote Linda of LuLuz) is pretty impressive, and it's easy to understand why I'd want to join in. I mean, I'm clever, I can make things, right?
Have I ever told you that I live in a(charming, but small...) historic home? Thought so. Well, my husband is extremely attached to the chandelier in the dining room, primarily as it is "original to the house". Those words transfix him, kind of like the words 50% off at Farm Chicks, or "hey, let's have drinks at The Ram", would me. Unable to leave this fixture alone, I've 'embellished' it over the years. First I draped green plastic beads found for $1 at Value Village, then I made the toile shades. (I made the toile roman shades showing faintly in the background as well. Love toile. Maybe too much.) I see in the closeup that the edges are getting a little frayed, not unlike my nerves of late. There's probably some dust too. As part of my Christmas decorating, I hang ornaments from it. I love these little birds. I cut napkin rings (candle rings?) that I picked up at Michael's and slip them around the light bases. Ta and da, blogland, ta and da! Truly easy, and I like the end result quite a bit if I do say so myself.

How Fun! I spay painted a shiny brass chandelier for the dinning room-but I have been wanting to add a little touch of glitz or glam to it!
I am having a little give away(actually my first EVER) at "The Kelton's Cozy Cottage" Be sure to stop by and sign up.

Great job on the chandi! I have always loved toile, too! I thought about you while I was on my trip in Portland. Was thinking I might run into you at Monticello's. Have you made it out there yet? It's fab!

Aren't chandeliers fun to embellish? You did a great job and I am a huge fan of toile too!
Thanks goodness that there are some projects for the crafty challenged like me. I always look at others and get just a wee bit envious, but they won't let me play with scissors here at the home.
I bet when it's lit, yours is gorgeous!

I'm not one that feels like just because it came "original with a house" that it's necessarily the criteria to keep something, but in this case I think your chandy is dandy, sorry bad pun. I really love how you have embellished and added and the toile shades are just gorgeous, frayed or not. I need to check back and see more of your home, it sounds wonderful, and I love the stove top timer from the previous post. Very ingenious!

Hi there! I think your chandelier is fabulous!! Really do love it - okay, now I need to add a few sparkleys to mine - see, you've inspired me!
I want a pretty pink vintage timer like yours...
