Harpo Marx kissed me once. Ok, not the Harpo Marx, but someone dressed as him one Halloween in downtown Portland. I was coming out of a club, and he just sauntered up and kissed me. To this day I have no idea who that was but it's one of my favorite Halloween memories. I like to think that I looked so a-maz-ing as a lady pirate that Mr. Marx really had no self control. Yes, that's what I like to think, Blogland! Just let it be! I still enjoy Halloween, although we don't get many trick or treaters on the hill we live on. Maybe it's the 31 steps up to our front door!

I found the little gumdrop tree in the bottom picture at Portland expo last weekend. I had to buy it, and if my sister ever reads this post, she'll tear up. My Mom had one, and did the same thing; black and orange gumdrops for Halloween. She used red and green gumdrops at Christmas, and I think she used white ones on Easter. She liked to force forsythia branches around Easter too, just like I do! It's funny the things we do, and are drawn to that we weren't really aware of, and in my case, certainly not appreciative of, as children. I know that connection to my own past is part of the hugh attraction vintage things hold for me.

What a sweet memory of your mother. I remember those trees when I was a kid.
Happy Halloween,

What I want to know is...did you make him go "honk, honk"?
I have one of those trees somewhere. It may be in my Christmas boxes...if I can find it, I'll send it to you for your sister.

I love the gumdrop tree, but I love the story behind it even more.
So very nice to see you last weekend!!! It seems you had just as much fun as I did - probably more as you didn't have a seven year old "assistant" with you... :)

Great new "background" . . . must be your colors! So nice to see you in PDX--I'm glad to be home for a change. Now when I see a gumdrop tree, will think of you!

Thank you for stopping by to congratulate me on winning Theresa's give away. I was soooooooo excited. And also you mentioned the movie Amelia which I blogged about. The movie was really pretty good. I remember studying about her in school of course but, they didn't go into her personal (love) life. So between the flying part & her relationship it was interesting. And it really is nice to be able to take your 80 year old Mom to a movie & not be embarassed or have to answer a bunch of questions. Have a great week!.
